Surf City Soroptimists of Huntington Beach – Fundraising for a Purpose

Wine Tasting Fundraiser to Improve the Lives of Women & Girls

Soroptimist International of Huntington Beach kicked off its “Fundraising for a Purpose” new year with a fabulous wine tasting event held at Ouzo & Feta Greek Bar and Grill , a local Huntington Beach restaurant. The restaurant’s owner, Vasily, closed the restaurant for our club, and we filled it to capacity.  Our guests were treated to an amazing feast which included a Village salad, homemade humus & tzatziki accompanied with pita bread, spinach & cheese pie (spanakopita), dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), Greek meatballs (keftedes) and calamari.

We wish to deeply thank our sponsors:
Diana Perna, PK Real Estate, provided the yummy wines for the event.
Gold Level Sponsors included Sylvia Harsin, Coldwell Banker Residential BrokerageCathy Standiford and Eva Lowenstein, Owner of Affinity & Co. Jewelers.
Silver Level Sponsors included Christine Soresi and Heather Menchine.

Our generous guests bid on silent auction baskets, a gift card tree and a frame full of lottery tickets as well as participating ilive auction for some special items, like a ride along with a ,member of our own HB police force.

Soroptimist International of Huntington Beach’s VP of Fundraising, Nouha Hreish, who’s been a member over 30 years, kicked off the evening with information about Soroptimists and herself.

Nouha then introduced former Live Your Dream honoree, Jacque Ruddy, who spoke about what our club meant to her and her two boys.

The evening ended with the announcement of the winners of the silent auction.

Each guest left with a gift from the club: a souvenir wine glass to remind them of their evening with Soroptimist International of Huntington Beach!

Thank you to all who supported our fundraiser and know that you have made a difference in the lives of women & girls!
