Reflections On A Monday Morning

“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean.
But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”
~Mother Teresa

Where to begin….My cup is more than half full…and I am so proud to be a member of Soroptimist International of Huntington Beach.

This past week has brought so many joys…

jessica and jaya feb 2015We celebrated our “Dolly Wakeham” mom, Jessica Fey, with a graduation party on Friday night.  She graduated with a 4.0 from Orange Coast College and will be entering Cal State Long Beach in the fall to completed her Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics/nutrition.  But, Jessica, being the sharing person she is, did not mind that we also celebrated our 2014-2015 Live Your Dream Honoree, Ida Zamaniego’s graduation from Golden West College with honors and 2013-2014 Dolly Wakeham mom and Live Your Dream Honoree, Sally Lyons, admission to the Mortuary Science Program at Cypress College.  We are so proud to be a part of these amazing women’s lives.

Five of us attended the Leadership Academy on Saturday in Oceanside: Georgette Sleeth, Brenda Walters, Marcelle Capps, Rachel Alm & me…and we all learned something new! Personally speaking, I always find Soroptimist events energizing.leadership academy 060515

And last but certainly not least, River’s goal of reaching $5,000 for the walk is getting closer and closer but, he told me, over the weekend, that I forgot to tell our sponsors that we will be highlighting them in a blog and on our front page of the website plus, if they have a website, we will include a link to their website.  We will also be thanking them on our Facebook and Twitter pages….and we will be publicly thanking our donors, too!

Speaking of our Walk To Make A Difference, have I mentioned our Sponsor levels?  In case you missed them, here they are:

Tail Wagger          $2,500
Face Licker           $1,000
Cookie Lover        $   500
Barker                    $   250
Couch Potato        $   100

Thank you for caring & sharing!  Have a wonderful week!

Terry
