Donna Gallup

Donna Gallup is the new President and CEO of a nonprofit organization, American Family Housing, in Midway City….She is also our newest member….well, sort of.  Donna officially becomes a member in September but, she attends meetings, and we already consider her “one of the family.”

Originally from New Jersey, Donna and her husband recently moved from the Los Angeles area to Huntington Beach.  She has two grown children whom she speaks with frequently every week.  She also holds an MSW and is a LCSW.  Prior to assuming the position at American Family Housing, Donna was CEO of LAMP Community located on Skid Row in Los Angeles.  In December 2013, the ACLU SoCal honored Donna at its 2013 Bill of Rights Dinner for the work she did with LAMP.

AFH logoLike all of our members, Donna’s passion is to help others improve their lives.  As President and CEO of American Family Housing, it is her mission, as well as the organization’s mission, to provide “a continuum of housing and an array of services to support homeless and low income families and adults to secure a stable home, to be an active part of their community, and to achieve a self-sustaining way of life.”

Here’s what Donna has to say about her new job: “As the new President & CEO of American Family Housing, I am completely blown away by what we are accomplishing at AFH with a small budget.  AFH works with women (and men) to be sustainable, independent and empowered while simultaneously giving them the opportunities to develop key facets of their livelihood.  I am proud to be at AFH as we continue to grow and expand our outreach and support in Southern California.”

And like all nonprofits, American Family Housing is reliant on grants, donations, volunteers and fundraisers which is a great segue for me to talk about the fantastic and yummy event coming up in August.
