2018 SIHB Board
SIHB Board of Directors 2018-19 with Governor Laurel

Are you interested in serving your community by working to improve the lives of women and girls? Soroptimist International of Huntington Beach (SIHB) invites you to join us at one of our monthly business or program meetings.  You’ll learn more about becoming a member.  You’ll also meet the dedicated women of all ages and walks of life who collectively support a variety of programs. These programs benefit women and their families in our community.  Why join?

What’s in it for you?

Fulfillment – Working on projects that improve the lives of others leads to personal satisfaction.

Friendship – Cultivating relationships with other women who have similar interests and values is a central aspect of Soroptimist membership.

Diversity – Meeting and learning about women from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and participating in projects that address the needs of women around the globe, contributes to equality for all.

Leadership – Developing skills at the club level results in enhanced opportunities at all levels of the organization.

Mentoring – Reaching out to women and girls at any stage of their lives provides an avenue for Soroptimist members to serve as mentors.

Here is a brief summary of membership opportunities and responsibilities:

Monthly business and program meetings
Members are encouraged to attend as many of the monthly business lunch and dinner program meetings as possible, as well as participate in community activities whenever our club is participating. The cost of the meals is included in your dues, and there are no monthly meetings during July and August.

Committees – Members are encouraged to join committees and to help board members and committee chairs to organize and participate in fundraising and service opportunities and to support other community events.

District and Regional meetings – All members are invited to attend and participate in Soroptimist International District 2 Meetings (held twice a year), the annual Regional Conference (held in the Spring), the Soroptimist International of the Americas Federation’s Biennial Convention (next convention: July 2024, Bellevue, Washington)  and SI’s Quadrennial Convention (July, 2023, Dublin, Ireland).

Dues — Members are required to pay affordable, annual dues, which also covers the cost of the business lunch and program meetings for one year.
